Nicki Minaj Covers February/March Vibe Magazine Issue

February 14th, 2012 | By

Nicki Minaj is on the new issue of Vibe Magazine Issue of February/March 2012 below you can see parts of the interview:

VIBE: You’ve said before that you didn’t really have fun recording Pink Friday.

Nicki Minaj: I felt like I had something to prove to everyone who said a female rapper could not make an album unless she was talking about her pussy. And so I went above and beyond to prove that I could not talk about sex and not talk about my genitalia and still have a successful album. And I proved that. And now my time for proving things to my critics is over. I don’t really need to prove anything to anyone else anymore.

You were heavy on the fashion scene last year around Fashion Week with Anna Wintour. Do you feel like you’ve been accepted by the fashion world?

Yeah, I realized more recently that even if it’s for a fashion magazine, I’m not gonna change who I am. When I was doing photo shoots last year, I kept on being told, “This is what we want your hair to look like and this is what we want you to look like,” and it really, really stifled my creativity. So the other day I was talking to a photographer, and he said, “You know what, I like your everyday looks so much better than when you do photo shoots for magazines.” And I was like, “So do I, you’re absolutely right.” I’d been getting more and more frustrated for a while.

But I’ve made up my mind that when you see a Nicki Minaj magazine cover from now on, it’s really going to reflect me and it’s going to be something that I creatively had a hand in, because I don’t have to do it anymore. I don’t have to do things just to please people. It’s okay to do what I love because what I love, my fans love. And they’re really the only ones that should matter. The fashion world will have to come to Nicki Minaj, as opposed to Nicki Minaj trying to go to the fashion world.

Meagan Good Covers VIBE Vixen Magazine Issue

February 9th, 2012 | By

Meagan Good is the new face of the issue of VIBE Vixen magazine see the interview below …

Meagan Good is truly good and loving moments

I mean, when you find yourself walking out on the side of freeway in a different state at three o’clock in the morning because someone has pissed you off, and you are completely convinced that you’re walking to the airport that is ove an hour away, you’ve pretty much lost your marbles there.Yeah, I’m not crazy like I’ll bust the windows out your car. I don’t like to be vindictive, but I am the type of person that’ll be like, ‘You know what? Nigga forget you, and I’ll be on my own!’ [Laughs] I’m one of those people who will mentally check out when I get so mad.

Meagan Good’s Talk On Whitney Houston Biopic Role

I want to do Whitney Houston’s life story. I think that would be an incredible story to do. I talked to Whitney a little bit about it, and she’s open to it, so I want to see what happens with that. Hopefully, in the very, very near future. She has Sparkle coming out, and I’ve heard good things about it already. I heard she looks beautiful, she sounds beautiful, she looks healthy and she’s the Whitney that we know and love. And so I think that would be a great place for her story to end and really just be beginning, if they were to do her life story right now.

Aaliyah’s August 2001 VIBE Cover Story

August 25th, 2011 | By

On August 25, 2001, tragedy painfully took its toll when R&B’s Baby Girl, Aaliyah Dana Haughton, left the music world in distress due to news of her tragic passing. The alluring songstress had just wrapped up what would become her last music video for her single “Rock The Boat,” when she died in a fatal plane crash just moments after departing the Bahamas where the visuals were filmed. Both unexpected and untimely, her death is one that to this day has friends, family and fans unanimously wondering: “What if?”

What if Aaliyah was still around? Undeniably, the R&B game would be entirely different. Sultry yet understated, inviting yet enigmatic, Aaliyah possessed a certain compelling charm that was as innovative as it has become difficult to duplicate.

And it was that same irresistible magnetism that had inevitably driven Miss Haughton into successes not yet achieved by many others her age. At just 22, Aaliyah already had three studio albums under her belt, along with dynamic roles in films like Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned. She was an ardent lover of her craft, one who had blossomed into an artist truly worthy of the title “One In A Million.”

On the 10th anniversary of her passing, VIBE pays homage to Aaliyah’s cherished career and its unforgettable impact on the music industry. Join us as we solemnly take a look back on the legacy of a life whose story was not fully told.
